We held a number of exciting technical forums during the 2011 hamfest which are open to all attendees, proof of paid admission, a hand stamp, is required. These were the scheduled forums for the 2011 hamfest:
10 AM: Introduction to MotoTRBO Digital Radios - Paul, WA2YZT & Steve, KFØRW
Along with digital voice technology offered via D-STAR, there is another digital voice technology which started in the commercial realm has extended into Amateur Radio. Find out about the features, functions, difference from D-STAR and the controversy over it's designation code and the FCC Amateur Radio rules.
11 AM: Lightning Protection Q&A - Bill, N0LAJ
Bill will give a brief presentation and then take questions on the proper techniques for protecting your radio equipment and home from lightning. Bill's background includes installing and maintaining lightning protection systems within the Denver Water reservoir network.
Noon: New, But Not Necessarily, Ham Seminar - TBD
Discussion topics of interest to new hams. He will cover such items as how to find an Elmer; modes of operation; selecting a first radio. There will be time for questions and answers.
